The Waters of Koh Phangan
Last week I arrived in Koh Phangan, Thailand. I will stay here for a couple of months to escape the European winter.
I have been coming to this island for 13 years but it has been 3 years since I was last here. The ACL injury and surgery meant I had to focus on my recovery.
Now I am fit for Kitesurfing and ready to go again. I have had a few sessions already in England and Spain, and now I am going to start increasing the intensity.
I refreshed my Kitesurfing gear with a new Ozone Vortex. The wind hasn’t come strong yet, but when it does I will be ready.
I will start to increase my jump heights and tricks, slowly but steadily. It has been 3 years since I was jumping high in Boracay, so I need to edge back into this slowly.
Fortunately, I know the waters of Koh Phangan very well. The wind is rarely too strong, the sea is mostly shallow, and as warm as a bath. It’s the perfect place to build up confidence again.
Right now I have no fear about my knee. I have done all the preparation and hard work I could do. There is nothing left now but to start pushing back to my previous levels.
It’s great to be back on this island, and it’s great to be fit again!
