Back to running
We set a target to start running again a month ago, and the day finally came.
I have been looking forward to this for so long, because I know from previous surgeries that this is when everything starts to feel normal again.
True, I have a long way to go still, but this is a massive confidence boost and proof that my knee is healing well.
This time, it took a lot longer to get back to running, but I am happy we waited so long.
In my last post about setting a target for running, I shared how I learned more about patience during this recovery. My ego wants me to get back to running as quickly as possible, but there is no point rushing when I can give the knee more chance to heal.
I want to say a big thank you to Jose who has been training me for most of this year with twice-weekly sessions. His energy and enthusiasm has got me through the hard, repetitive work in the middle of this recovery.
And there are so many more people to thank! From my surgeon, physios, friends, family loved ones, and internet strangers who have all played a part.
Now it’s time to enjoy my runners high and refocus on the next milestone.
