A Change from Spain
On Saturday I will ride my motorbike to Germany for the Euros, spend some time with family in California, and then return to England for the rest of the summer.
So that means today was my last physio training session with Jose in Spain for 3 months.
I feel lucky and grateful to have found the physio team at Árvore Clinics. When I had my first appointment in January, I had only just started walking and still felt a lot of stiffness. The physios Ferran and Vicente were thorough and patient, using a range of techniques in the early stages to aid the healing and recommending a PRP injection to help the quad tendon heal correctly.
At the same time, I started working with fitness trainer Jose twice a week to build up strength. He did a full analysis on my strengths and weaknesses and put together custom training sessions to patiently build my fitness back.
Throughout it all, the secretary Cristina patiently helped me despite my lack of Spanish, and even taught me a few words! A big thank you to the entire team who have played a massive part in my recovery back to running and beyond.
I will return to Spain in mid-September, continue the training, and hopefully start planning a full return to sport.
In the meantime, the challenge is to keep up the physio exercises with a good routine and to continue progressing my running with patience.
